Adjustable Air vs Memory Foam

Adjustable air describes a changeable support mechanism; memory foam describes a material. An adjustable-air mattress can even contain memory foam above its chambers.

The defining feature is changeable air pressure in the support core. Its appeal is personalization and, in many shared sizes, independent partner control.

Conventional memory foam

A fixed foam mattress relies on its foam construction for both comfort and support. It generally has fewer mechanical components but does not let you change core support with a control.

Choose by problem

If changing support is the goal, adjustable air has a functional advantage. If you simply want a particular foam feel and do not need adjustability, a conventional foam mattress may be simpler.
